Quality Energy’s partnership with Qantas began back in 2016 when we were selected to design and install Power Factor Correction equipment for their catering facility in Crestmead Queensland. From that point Quality Energy has worked with Qantas at their sites at Melbourne and Sydney Airport.
The ProblemA low power factor was causing a number of Qantas sites at Sydney International Airport to be paying excess charges on their power bill.
The ConsequencesHigh power bills were placing unnecessary costs to Qantas across a number of their Sydney & Melbourne sites.
The SolutionQuality Energy installed over 2,000 kVAr worth of Power Factor Correction systems across a number of sites at Sydney Airport in order to reduce kVA demand charges and help manage rising electricity costs.
Reducing demand (kVA) charges on a business’s power bill is usually the easiest way to reduce costs. Qantas’s demand charges made up to 60% of their total energy bill meaning a return on investment of less than 3 years could be achieved.
