Laverton North, Victoria

The Problem

A&J Australia acquired its first robotic blow-molding machine in December 2004 and, since then, has grown to become one of the leading plastic bottle manufacturers in Australia.

Quality Energy's partner, Tri Amp Electrics, was called to their Laverton North site to monitor the site's power quality after their equipment, as well as the main switchboard, began overheating and the business was operating outside local electrical code compliance.

The Solution

Quality Energy installed a power quality monitor and, after carefully reviewing the data, recommended a customised Power Quality Correction unit and Active Harmonic Filter solution to assist A&J with improving their power factor, reduce harmonics in their power supply and make them compliant to the local electrical code.

We then designed, built, commissioned, delivered and installed 1 x 400kVAr Modular Power Factor Correction unit and 1 x 600A Active Harmonic Filter.
