Improving Power Factor and Reducing Harmonics in a Power Supply
Our partner's client's site had an overheating switchboard and was operating outside the local electrical code. After monitoring the site's power quality and reviewing the data carefully, Quality Energy recommended a 400kVAr Modular Power Factor Correction unit to improve power factor and a 600A Active Harmonic Filter to reduce harmonics. Sancell Supercharges their Sustainability

Quality Energy was delighted to be recommended by The Energy Alliance to partner with Explore & Develop Baulkham Hills for a solar PV solution aimed at reducing electricity costs and cutting carbon emissions. Our team installed a system designed to maximize roof space and deliver the highest possible savings on their electricity bills. With an estimated annual solar production of 34,752 kWh, Explore & Develop Baulkham Hills is set to save 53% on energy costs and prevent 24.3 Tonnes of COâ‚‚ emissions annually — equivalent to planting 401 seedlings and nurturing them over a decade. The future just got a little brighter for the preschoolers and their generation!
Solar System Outperforming Expectations
This beautiful solar system is producing more renewable energy that estimated. For over 5 years, the Caroline Springs College has had the benefit of over 63MWh generated and our calculations show it has saved them a total of 440 Tonnes of CO2 (equivalent to 7,277 tree seedlings grown for 10 years) and approximately $75k!
Out With the Old and In With the New!
After an electricity retailer identified their customer had poor power factor, they approached Quality Energy for a solution. Quality Energy discovered that an existing aged power factor correction unit was in poor condition and not performing as expected, resulting in high demand charges for the Queensland manufacturer. Quality Energy obtained data for analysis and delivered and installed a new, bespoke Power Factor Correction unit. The manufacturer now has a power factor of .99!
EV Charger Convenience for Employees
EnergyAustralia is currently in the process of installing EV chargers throughout Australia, encouraging use of electric vehicles and providing convenient and easy access to charging stations. As owners of the Newport Power Station, they recently installed an electric vehicle charger on the site for its employees to charge their electric vehicles.

EV Chargers Provide Sites with Additional Revenue
Moana Heights Shopping Centre and Gawler Homemaker Centre wanted to provide customers with the convenience of being able to park and charge their electric vehicles whilst using their facilities. The 120kW twin plug DC EV chargers provide dual charging to attract more customers and additional revenue from customers using the chargers, while reducing fossil fuel carbon emissions.
On the Road Again with Renewables
Bridgestone Select Tyre & Auto have a store, a workshop and a warehouse at their site in Truganina. An old solar PV system on the warehouse rooftop was damaged by a storm and needed to be replaced, so Quality Energy installed a new 99.6kW commercial solar system. This new system is expected to produce 116,713kWH of clean, green electricity in the first year of operation, offsetting 81.5 Tonnes of CO2 emissions, equivalent to 1,248 tree seedlings grown for 10 years.
Active Harmonic Filters for Highpoint
Highpoint Shopping Center has over 450 different businesses sharing a heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system. Newly installed chillers were creating harmonics in Highpoint's electrical system, which can potentially cause equipment malfunction, overheating and hardware damage, as well as taking the electrical system outside of the electrical network code. Quality Energy were engaged to customise a solution using Active Harmonic Filters to reduce harmonics to acceptable levels.
Solar Powered Advanced Textile Manufacturing
Advanced textile manufacturing is an energy-intensive process and rising energy costs were impacting Australian Textile Mills (ATM). Quality Energy designed and installed a whopping 1MW solar PV system on their heritage listed facility in Wangaratta, Victoria. It's estimated annual production is 1313MWh and will offset 1011 Tonnes of carbon emissions.
Power Factor Correction for Austech
Our large electricity retailer channel partner identified Austech Wire and Cable had poor power factor and engaged Quality Energy to provide a solution. Quality Energy carefully considered the structures and surroundings, including a lack of spare circuit breakers/space in the switchboard, and two Power Factor Correction units, one 500kVAR and one 200kVAR, were designed and engineered for each transformer and installed. The results include better protection for their equipment and reduced demand, providing lower electricity bills and carbon emission savings.
Sustainable Chocolate at Barry Callebaut
The world's leading manufacturer of high-quality chocolate and cocoa products, Barry Callebaut, was looking for a reliable solution to improve their energy efficiency, reduce their electricity bills, become more environmentally responsible and bolster their sustainability positioning at its chocolate factory in Campbellfield. Quality Energy installed a 568kW solar PV system and a 175kVAR Power Factor Correction Unit to reduce the site's energy consumption.
Bayside Residential Complex Goes Solar
This beautiful bayside residential complex is now even more sustainable! The new 90.2kW solar PV system, customised specifically to withstand inclement weather and sea-salt erosion and installed on one uniquely shaped eleven level main building and two three level low rise townhouses, now powers many of the common areas as well as the de-salination plant that provides water to the gardens and pool.
